The 2010 Ford Mustang will get a facelift among other things and will be based off the current S197 platform. Major changes will probably include body, chassis modifications and possibly the return of the 5.0L engine along with a refreshed interior.

Look for the 3-valve 4.6L to be replaced by the rumored 5.0L motor which produces 400 horsepower. According to a few reports the new 5.0L motor is being developed under the code name 'Coyote'. If the engine is to be built it will be done at Ford's Essex Engine Plant in Windsor, Ontario. At this point these are just rumors but Ford will have to do something in the engine department if they want to keep up with Dodge's Challenger and Chevrolet's new Camaro.

2010 Mustang Rumor Highlights:
  •  4.6L V8 to be replaced by 400 hp, 400 lb-ft of torque 5.0L V8 motor
  • A twin-turbo Ecoboost V6 engine producing 415 horsepower could be added to lineup for Mustang GT
  • New body panels and chassis modifications
  • Refreshed interior including dash and instrument panel
  • There will be a 2010 Shelby GT500, no word on GT500KR
  • 4.0L V6 engine will be back for base model Mustang

The 2010 Mustang should be available in the Summer of 2009.
